Weekly layouts for Bullet Journalists

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to get done.

Weekly layouts are a personal favourite of the team here at Journal Junkies. No two weeks are ever the same, so they give us the opportunity to change things around week-to-week.
We also have weekly-running to do lists, so seeing the whole week at a glance is important for us to keep on top of things.
Pro tip: Often, we re-use the same layouts but use different colours and styles to add interest - but don't get overwhelmed. The most important thing is that the layouts work for you.
If you're not sure where to start, think of what you need to track on a weekly basis and what to do lists need to be split up.

Some of our staples include:
  • Appointments - so daily blocks are essential.
  • Housework and chores
  • Work tasks
  • Notes
  • Space for next week
Some things you may want to think about are:
  • Habit trackers
  • Different to do lists
  • Weather forecasts
  • Colour coding
  • A key
Pro tip: When planning a new weekly layout, we draft one to see where everything will fit. Once the draft is completed, it can be referenced time and time again.

The simple spread

This was what most of the team here at Journal Junkies started with. Appointment slots on one side and to do lists on the other.
It is simple to create on grid, dotted or lined paper. Just create seven rows for your days on one side and your to do list(s) on the other.
Create a column for your tick box if you wish, too.

The too much to do spread

Sometimes life can get hectic. You might be a student who also works part-time, or a mother who has to organise her whole family.
This layout allows you to see your appointments and block all your to do lists into categories.

The master tracker spread

Some weeks, we have fewer things going on and have time to focus on personal development.
The master tracker uses colour coding to mark the to do list and includes two different trackers.
